The overarching
characteristic of one's relationship with God should be a delight. Delightfulness
is the state of perpetual joy, peace and happiness. Delight is as Paul
describes the state of being, "whether abased or abounded, I've learned to
be content in the Lord." Delight permits one in the midst of a trial or
tribulation, "to encourage yourself in the Lord." Delight makes
service fulfilling even when those who you serve do not reciprocate your affection.
Delight is connected to faith. It propels one to continue to fight the
good fight and to finish the course. Delight is what causes one to love God
with all their heart, mind and spirit. As the close of the first half of the
year ends, "delight yourself in the Lord," and the end of the year
will be better than its beginning.
