A Mother's Faith

"Rizpath daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock. From the beginning of the harvest till the rain poured down from the heavens on the bodies, she did not let the birds of the air touch them by day or the wild animals by night." 2 Samuel 21:10

This story illustrates the love of a mother towards her murdered son that empowered her to maintain a prolonged vigil over his body protecting his body from those who would ravage his corpse.

I pay tribute to the mother of Trayvon Martin, who like Rizpath is protecting her son against the forces that would ravage his body and destroy his memory. She is demonstrating a faith that permits her to endure under the strictest media scrutiny, critique from those who are attempting to protect the Sanford Police Department and Zimmerman, and a confidence that truth will win in the end.

God will protect her from the scavengers who seek to ravage the memory and legacy of Trayvon Martin.
