Bob Herbert of The New York Times comes very close to expressing my sentiments in his article, "Losing Our Way." I respect Mr. Herbert for his consistent voice on behalf of the poor and working class of America.
Last night as I watched President Obama explain the reasons for engaging in the Libya crises. I wondered to myself if he fully understands what is happening right here in America. The people are hurting and screaming for relief. They have not yet revolted, but the elements of mass rebellion are in the air; just like the particles of radiation that is making its way in the air from Japan.
Herbert says it this way, "So here we are pouring shiploads of cash into yet another war, this time in Libya, while simultaneously demolishing school budgets, closing libraries, laying off teachers and police officers, and generally letting the bottom fall out of the quality of life here at home."
Never ending war is not the change people were looking for; ending the war on poverty is the battle people in America wish to fight.
